City of Saint Raphael the Archangel

Saint Raphael the Archangel, found in Judaism, Islam and Christianity, is the custodian of the city. The intense popular devotion to Saint Raphael, since the city suffered an outbreak of the plague in the 17th century, has gradually filled its streets with sculptures honouring him as the city’s saviour. These sculptures are called Triumphs of Saint Raphael and there are 11 in total, scattered around the city.

Best combination of history and modernity

Cordoba is full of charming spots, packed with history. Its architecture reflects all the civilisations that have left their mark on the city. Roman bridges alongside Arab baths and Baroque buildings.

But on top of this monumental heritage, there is also contemporary architecture and landscaping. The River Balcony and the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce are just two examples of the noteworthy contemporary architecture the city has to offer.
