Museums are an essential part of Córdoba’s cultural showcase. They allow you to experience first-hand what life was like in an al-Andalus home at Casa Andalusí, discover treasures from the Roman, Visigoth and Islamic past at the Archaeological Museumand admire the paintings of Julio Romero de Torres at the Julio Romero de Torres Museum, located in the same house where he was born.

The gastronomy of Córdoba is characterised by a mixture of sweet and salty flavours and the use of olive oil and ajoblanco, which are combined with products from the kitchen garden and farms to create the simple dishes of the Mediterranean diet, with Arab, Roman and Jewish origins. You can’t leave without trying a delicious Córdoba salmorejo and the famous flamenquines.

In the months of May and June Córdoba is full of music, colour and art during the city’s fairs and festivals. Soak up the folklore and traditions at the Córdoba Fair, the Cruces de Mayo or the Noche Blanca del Flamenco, and enjoy good company and the best atmosphere.

Córdoba is full of monuments that reflect the history of the city, with Roman constructions such as the Roman Bridge and the Roman Temple, Islamic architecture such as the Medina Azahara and the Tower of Calahorra, and Hebrew buildings such as the Synagogue. You can even find examples of the three cultures together in the Jewish Quarter.
Of course, one of the must-sees in the city is the Mosque-Cathedral, a temple that combines a Christian cathedral with a mosque in the same building, resulting in an imposing architectural jewel that is impossible to describe in words.

Córdoba is the Spanish horse capital par excellence. Descendants of Roman horses and mares of the Umayyad Caliphs, our Pura Raza Española stand out for their strength, their agility and their elegance in their paces; an authentic visual spectacle that will steal your heart. You can learn all about the fascinating world of horses at the Royal Stables of Córdoba.

Colourful courtyards
The Courtyards of Cordoba are more than your average outdoor space. Declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, these neighbourhood meeting points are bursting with plants and flowers of all kinds, flooding every corner of the city with light and colour. They also have their own festival: the Festival de los Patios Cordobeses, a competition where locals participate to choose the most beautiful courtyard in the city. Not to be missed!
